Serving and Learning Together

 

SaLT in ALASKA will support the development of the new Tlingit Tribe Cultural Center for the Tlingit and Haida Tribes of Alaska. Service projects range from helping remodel the building, landscaping the property, cleaning and improving outdoor recreational areas such as parks, playgrounds, and hiking trails, or working with the children of the community in a summer camp-like environment.

Juneau Tour

Nestled between stunning mountain vistas and winding waterways, the modern city of Juneau is reminiscent of the old west. Explore Alaska’s capital city by riding in an antique trolley. From the stunning views of Douglas Island to the bustling capital building, this city has a surprise around every corner.

Alaska State Museum

Explore this fascinating Museum’s collection of cultural artifacts from the people of the Northwest Coast (Tlingit, Haida, and Tsimshian), the Athabascan cultures of interior Alaska, the Inupiaq of the north coast, the Yup’ik of the southwest, the Alutiiq people of Prince Willaim Sound and Kodiak Island, and the Unangax from out along the Aleutian chain.

Macaulay Salmon Hatchery

The hatchery incubates around 150 million chum, pink coho, and king salmon annually. You’ll learn about the commercial fishing industry, salmon hatching, and marine environments all while getting to watch the process of harvesting and fertilizing salmon eggs.

Mt. Roberts Tram and Hike

Mt. Roberts Tramway is the only aerial tramway in southeast Alaska. Cars rise 1,800 feet from the cruise ship dock in downtown Juneau through the rain forest to the Mountain House, offering expansive views of Juneau and Gastineau Channel.
